Holiday Trees & Politically Incorrect Christmas

I'm an atheist. I don't believe in organized religion, though I don't think religion is necessarily bad. If belief in a faith makes you a better human being, and makes you treat other human beings better, then you should pursue that faith.

Every year around this time, debates arise about whether we should celebrate a holiday which blatantly promotes the Christian faith. Attempts are made to remove CHRIST from Christmas so as not to offend non-Christians. Personally, I'd first rather see SLAUGHTER removed from Ramadan so as to stop offending non-Muslims.

In this world of unending violence and hatred, why are we so focused on renaming a Christmas tree to HOLIDAY Tree? Is it to deflect our attention from life and death matters to such asinine, politically correct silliness?

Christmas is Christmas and always has been. It was never "Winter Festival" or "Holiday Break" or whatever other pc name some try to apply. Christmas was created to celebrate the birth of Christ, whether you believe in Christ or not. Even as commercialism seized the holiday, it was still Christmas. No one is forced to participate. Kwanzaa is always Kwanzaa, Hanukkah is Hanukkah, Ramadan is Ramadan. So why shouldn't Christmas remain Christmas?

Just my non-religious view.

Oh, and by the way, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
