Political Correctness Be Damned!

Congressman LTC Allen West once again states the uncomfortable, politically incorrect truth (all emphasis mine):

West said the political correctness intimidates people from saying what he believes is true about Islam.

"If we continue down this road, as I call it multiculturalism on steroids, then we're going to present a gap by which we can get exploited time and time again. So I think that we have to start kind of like in baseball the umpire calls a ball a ball and a strike as strike and it's time that we start calling some strikes out there."

"I am not sitting up here and condemning people who call themselves Muslims," West said. "Now is the time we have to challenge this ideology. If we are to peacefully coexist they have to come into the 21st Century and push aside a lot of these 7th Century ideas they still hold."

West said he thinks that makes Islam a particular threat.

"We have to understand that the major religions of the world, Judaism and Christianity did go through reformations. Now when you look at this next major religion, I call it a theocratic political construct ideology, they need to go through a reform of the process as well.

"Ever since Muhammad left Mecca and took his Hijrah to Medina there was a violent turn to this faith that is called Islam. And we must confront that and we must understand that….

The last paragraph touches on what I wrote in comments under Howie’s post about the Taliban.

There are peaceful verses in the quran, and there are violent verses, as there are in other Holy Books. Muslims are free to select which of those verses they choose to embrace. But the quran has one distinguishing feature that other holy texts don’t have – the quran states which of those conflicting verses are valid and which are abrogated. One only needs to do simple research about the chronological order of the quran to understand how certain verses have become more relevant than others.

Are there peaceful Muslims who choose to only embrace the peaceful aspects of Islam and dismiss the violent aspects? Certainly. A majority do. But we cannot, in good conscience, ignore the truth that Islamic extremists do have religious justification to commit the atrocities they commit.

This is something Muslims, as a whole, need to address. They should be the first to challenge radical ideology of Islamic extremists. Since it would be impossible to dispute justification the quran (and Muhammad's own example) supports, West correctly states, there is a necessity for reformation.

But in the absence of their collective condemnation and reformation, it is imperative that all people who recognize the barbarity and inhumanity of terrorism to stand up for the truth. Knowledge is the greatest weapon of all. And as long as there is a brave few willing to speak out truthfully, however politically incorrect, there is hope.

Reasoned Jihad Against Muslims

Cathy Young, in her article The Jihad Against Muslims, wrote:

Even in milder form, there are sweeping generalizations that reduce any social or political problem anywhere to a "Muslim problem" as long as there are Muslims involved. Take this description by Mark Steyn: "There are many trouble spots around the world, but as a general rule, it’s easy to make an educated guess at one of the participants: Muslims vs. Jews in ‘Palestine,’ Muslims vs. Hindus in Kashmir, Muslims vs. Christians in Africa, Muslims vs. Buddhists in Thailand, Muslims vs. Russians in the Caucasus, Muslims vs. backpacking tourists in Bali."

This account not only omits many non-Islamic trouble spots, from Korea to Colombia, but also implicitly presumes that Muslims are the guilty parties and Islam is the problem in every conflict listed.

True, Ms. Young, there are trouble spots that do not involve Islam, as there are acts of terrorism that do not involve Muslims. However, if one rationally considers that a "faith" which comprises only 20% of the total world population is involved in almost 90% of all world conflicts and more than 95% of all acts of terrorism, then the perspective becomes clear.

It is indisputable that Islam disproportionately behaves more violently than all other faiths combined. That isn't Islamophobia, that isn't racism, that isn't bigotry. That is a simple, cold fact.

Young also writes in her article:

There are regions, such as Bosnia, where the Muslim populations are modern and moderate, and there are progressive and reformist forces within Islam.

London Votes For Islamophobe

Boris Johnson wins the election. Looks like there is still hope for England after all:

"Boris Johnson would be a disaster for London. He is an Islamophobe who has insulted and condemned Islam and Muslims". So said the Muslims4Ken campaign.

"How YOU can help save us from a Zionist Mayor," campaigned the Muslim Public Affairs Committee.

But the unthinkable has happened. Boris is our mayor.

Muslims4Ken quoted Johnson:

"The proposed ban on incitement to "religious hatred" makes no sense unless it involves a ban on the Koran itself." (Telegraph 21/07/2005)

How can anyone not love the guy? :)

Jihad Watch Five Point Plan To End "Islamophobia" Ignored By "Moderate" Muslims

"Moderate" Muslims are working hard to end Islamophobia. They suggest Islam is is simply misunderstood by by non-Muslims. Their plan calls for more education about the so-called faith.

But Jihad Watch has a more realistic plan that doesn't involve Infidels submitting to Allah:

1. Focus their indignation on Muslims committing violent acts in the name of Islam, not on non-Muslims reporting on those acts.

2. Renounce definitively not just "terrorism," but any intention to replace the U.S. Constitution (or the constitutions of any non-Muslim state) with Sharia even by peaceful means.

3. Teach Muslims the imperative of coexisting peacefully as equals with non-Muslims on an indefinite basis.

4. Begin comprehensive international programs in mosques all over the world to teach against the ideas of violent jihad and Islamic supremacism.

5. Actively work with Western law enforcement officials to identify and apprehend jihadists within Western Muslim communities.

UK Blogger To Be Arrested For Anti-Islamic Comments

In establishing the Sharia, the first logical step would be to silence the opposition with threats of violence and/or imprisonment. Create an atmosphere in which expressing negative opinions about the 'religion of peace' becomes a criminal offense. Prevent the truth about Muhammad and his sadistic death cult from reaching the masses.

The next step is the morality police. Once free speech is suppressed, any free expression of dissent should not be tolerated.

How dare any Moslem try and silence the truth from being told by an Englishman about the Islamic enemy in our midst within the British homeland.

Who have I killed, who have I threatened to kill? No one, all I have done is written about my reality on a computer screen, and now I face going to prison in my own country for standing up for myself and others.

How dare those power hungry fools seek to silence me or anyone else like me from speaking the truth for the sake of our children, grandchildren and the future of our homeland, who do they think they are, they are nothing more than mere men like the rest of us, just in positions of power over us that they totally abuse against us, look at the treason that has happened within Brussels by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, handing over the Sovereignty of our Nation into foreign hands - Treason is the only word for it yet no one is arresting them, no they are arresting me for writing a few words of truth on a blog.

Traitors to the British people are those who pass this judgment and enforce it against their fellow countrymen when all they are doing is standing up for themselves, their children and their neighbours now that we are all surrounded by the armies of Islam who are camped deep within our land conducting Holy War on a daily basis against us and the innocent and the vulnerable in our society - The facts speak for themselves!

Muslim "Bollywood" Star Complains of Discrimination In America

No doubt, this star is equally concerned about the discrimination against women and non-Muslims in Islamic countries, right?

MUMBAI (AFP) - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says his next film will look at discrimination faced by Muslims after the September 11, 2001, terror attacks in the United States.

Khan, who like many prominent stars in the Indian film industry is Muslim, has faced extra scrutiny after the 2001 attacks in the United States.

"If you travel internationally with a Muslim surname, you might be considered as a terrorist," Khan told Wednesday's DNA newspaper.

"At London airport, every time I go, people recognise me but they see my second name and they give me an extra checking," said the star, who is known for his successful romantic comedies.

Khan said he had experienced greater religious discrimination abroad, though India, which is majority Hindu but home to 140 million Muslims, sees regular sectarian violence.

Switzerland's "Black Sheep" Party Surges Ahead

The Swiss People's Party, or SVP, is a right-wing political party known for opposition to unchecked immigration. While one of its positions is to expel all foreigners and immigrants who commit violent crimes, the party has been viewed as anti-Islam, since a large portion of violent immigrants appear to be Muslim.

ZURICH (Reuters) - The right-wing Swiss People's Party (SVP) is set to consolidate its position as the alpine nation's most popular grouping in a parliamentary election on Sunday, outstripping its rivals after a provocative campaign.

Polling booths in Switzerland are due to close around midday (11 a.m. British time). A large proportion of Swiss ballots are cast by mail in advance of election day. The first estimated national result is due at around 1900 local time (6 p.m. British time).

According to the last opinion poll conducted before the election, the People's Party are expected to win 27.3 percent of the vote, a slight increase over 2003 when they raced to the top of the polls amid accusations of xenophobia.

The SVP has again run a controversial campaign calling for the extradition of foreigners who commit serious crimes. It has been criticised by opponents and has ruffled the usually smooth waters of Switzerland's consensus-based politics.

Opposition to the SVP's campaign, which used posters calling for the "black sheep" of Swiss society to be booted out, spilled over into a rare outburst of violence on the streets of Berne earlier this month when police and left-wing activists clashed.

Words To Help Fight Terrorism

The pen may really be mightier than the sword:

In dealing with Islamic extremists, the West may be giving them the advantage due to cultural ignorance, maintain Dr. Douglas E. Streusand and Army Lt. Col. Harry D. Tunnell IV. The men work at the National Defense University at Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington, D.C.

The two believe the right words can help fight the global war on terror. "American leaders misuse language to such a degree that they unintentionally wind up promoting the ideology of the groups the United States is fighting," the men wrote in an article titled "Choosing Words Carefully: Language to Help Fight Islamic Terrorism."

A case in point is the term "jihadist." Many leaders use the term jihadist or jihadi as a synonym for Islamic extremist. Jihad has been commonly adapted in English as meaning "holy war." But to Muslims it means much more. In their article, Steusand and Tunnell said in Arabic - the language of the Koran - jihad "literally means striving and generally occurs as part of the expression 'jihad fi sabil illah,' striving in the path of God."

This is a good thing for all Muslims. "Calling our enemies jihadis and their movement a global jihad thus indicates that we recognize their doctrines and actions as being in the path of God and, for Muslims, legitimate," they wrote. By countering jihadis, the West and moderate Muslims are enemies of true Islam.

The men asked Muslim scholars what the correct term for Islamic extremists would be and they came up with "hirabah." This word specifically refers to those engaged in sinful warfare, warfare contrary to Islamic law. "We should describe the Islamic totalitarian movement as the global hirabah, not the global jihad," they wrote.

Another word constantly misused in the West is mujahdeen. Again, in American dictionaries this word refers to a holy warrior - again a good thing. So calling an al Qaeda terrorist a mujahid legitimizes him.

The correct term for these killers is "mufsidun," Streusand and Tunnell say. This refers to an evil or corrupt person. "There is no moral ambiguity and the specific denotation of corruption carries enormous weight in most of the Islamic world," they wrote.

People can apply other words instead. "Fitna/fattan: fitna literally means temptation or trial, but has come to refer to discord and strife among Muslims; a fattan is a tempter or subversive," they wrote. "Applying these terms to our enemies and their works condemns their current activities as divisive and harmful."

The men also want officials to stop using the term "caliphate" as the goal of al Qaeda and associated groups. The Caliphate came to refer to the successors of the Prophet Mohammed as the political leaders of the Muslim community. "Sunni Muslims traditionally regard the era of the first four caliphs (A.D. 632-661) as an era of just rule," the men wrote. "Accepting our enemies' description of their goal as the restoration of a historical caliphate again validates an aspect of their ideology."

The men point out that an al Qaeda caliphate would not mean the establishment of just rule, but rather a global totalitarian state where women would be treated as chattel, music banned and any kind of difference severely punished. "Anyone who needs a preview of how such a state would act merely has to review the conduct of the Taliban in Afghanistan before Sept. 11, 2001," they wrote.

The correct term for the al Qaeda goal is global totalitarian state - something no one in the world wants.

Finally, the men urge Westerners to translate Allah into God. Using Allah to refer to God would be like using Jehovah to refer to a Hebrew God. In fact, Muslims, Christians and Jews all worship the God of Abraham. Using different names exaggerates the divisions among the religions, the authors say.

The men have launched an education effort. "Our work is an attempt to educate the interagency community about the challenges of communication with Islamic audiences," they wrote in answer to written questions. "Our particular effort is in its infancy, but is showing some level of success."

UPDATE: a friend emailed to ask if I really believed changing a few words could turn the tide in fighting Islamic terrorism. My response was, "Not really." But in all honesty, I'd much rather see the defeat of Islamic terrorism with the help of peaceful Muslims, than have to to fight and defeat all 1.2 billion Muslims around the world. Like many people, I didn't give a rat's ass about Islam before 9/11. But being inundated with daily deadly Islamic terrorist attacks has changed my attitude. No longer is Islam a religion to consider or not to consider, but an entire ideology that supports, either with Qur'anic verses or through silent consent, acts of terrorism against non-Muslims. It is time for "moderate" Muslims to step up. Either defend your religion against radical Islamists, or we have no choice but to defeat it.

Robert Spencer's Five-Point Plan To End Islamophobia

In the UK, a Muslim activist group has launch an ad campaign to show "Islam is peace." The BBC reports:

An advertising campaign promoting British Muslims as integrated citizens who reject extremism has been launched.

Islam is Peace - formed after the bombings in London in July 2005 - has initially placed adverts on the capital's buses and Underground trains.

They show a range of Muslims - including a policewoman, a Scout group and the chef Michael Barry - with the slogan "Proud to be a British Muslim".

Organisers say research shows many Britons associate Islam with terrorism.

The project outlines a five-point plan, all focused on changing the perception of Islam and promoting it as a religion based in peace.

According to Robert, to end Islamophobia, Muslims should:

This is a glossary of special terms, foreign words (mainly Arabic), and colloquialisms (plus terms I've made up for the purpose of describing and designating matters discussed here) which visitors to Clarity & Resolve will run into, but may not yet be familiar with. Some of the entries are a bit encyclopedic, so peruse it at your leisure and soak it in:

CLARITY & RESOLVE LEXICON 1924: This is the year that the Islamic khilafa was finally dissolved in Turkey by Mustafa Kamal, ending a continuous thirteen century succession from Muhammad. Muslims blame this event, which they see as a horrible calamity, on Western interference and hostility to Islam. It is an injurious point of humiliation to the Muslim psyche and is probably equal to the 800 year-old grudge of Europe's defensive Crusades as inspiration for Islam's hatred of the West and of the infidel (outside of the Koran and sunnah). 1924 marked the inevitable clash of Islam's unreformed seventh century doctrine and the modern, civilized world led by the West. D dar al-Islam: "House/domain of submission." A term signifying lands under Muslim control. Related terms: dar al-Harb, dar al-Kufr: "House of War," "House of Disbelief." Used to to designate the lands of infidels. dar al-Ahd: "House of the Treaty, or Truce." Lands that are controlled by infidels, but which are not presently at war with Muslims. dawa: The peaceful invitation to Islam for infidels; missionary work. Used in lands where jihad is impractible, or as the required precursor to jihad. Death Cult, The: A truthful, if blunt and politically incorrect, nickname for Islam. Also sardonically referred to as the Religion of Peace™. death cultist: a Muslim, also called a peaceful religionist dhimmi: Literally, "protected person." A Christian, Jew, or Sabian—ahl al-Kitab: people of the book—who live in Muslim lands as second class citizens. They are subjected to paying a poll tax (jizya), a land tax, different dress (this is where Hitler got the idea for the yellow Magen David), they cannot testify against a Muslim in a court of law, nor can they hold commercial or social positions higher than a Muslim. Dhimmis have been subjected to humiliation, sporadic violence, pogroms, and mass expulsion from Muslim lands throughout Islam's history. Dubya: George W. Bush, our 43rd president. A man whose policies I do not always agree with, and who I did not vote for in 2000 (but whom I will vote for this year). A man I respect in light of his clarity and resolve in the wake of the 9/11 jihad attacks in my country. Dubya has my endorsement, something that I don't easily give to politicians, because of his confidence, leadership, and willingness to take the war on jihad to the mujahideen so that it doesn't end up on my street or yours. E Eurocrat: a European who is ideologically anti-American and usually at least quasi-socialist F faqih: Islamic jurisprudent, expert in Islamic law (sharia), pl. fuqaha fatwa: Legally binding, religious ruling/proclamation. fitna: This is a somewhat broad term which translates as discord or civil strife. It is used in the Koran as "mischief in the land" or "disorder in the land," which can be capital offenses in sharia. fiqh: Islamic jurisprudence, understanding of Islamic law (sharia) The five categories of fiqh, and the degree to which Muslims must follow them, are: fard: required, obligatory mandub: recommended, suggested mubah: allowable, acceptable makruh: despised, not prohibited, but discouraged haraam: prohibited Five Pillars of Islam, The: These are the obligatory principles of faith that each Muslim must adhere to. Jihad is proclaimed as the sixth pillar of Islam (or the pinnacle of Islam) by most Muslim clerics and Islamic scholars. Shahadah: the declaration of faith La ilaha illa'Llah—There is no god worthy of worship except God Muhammadun rasulu'Llah—and Muhammad is His messenger. Salat: prayer Zakat: charity for the ummah (the Muslim community) in need Sawm: fasting and self-purification during the holy month of Ramadan (which is when Muslims believe Muhammad received the revelation of God's word in the Koran) Haj: the pilgrimage to Mecca for those who are able-bodied, and solvent—to be done at least once in ones life ...Umar ibn al-Khattab, told me: One day we were sitting in the company of God's Apostle (saas) when there appeared before us a man dressed in pure white clothes, his hair extraordinarily black. There were no signs of travel on him. None amongst us recognized him. At last he sat with the Apostle (saas). He knelt before him, placed his palms on his thighs, and said: Muhammad, inform me about al-Islam. The Messenger of Allah (saas) said: Al-Islam implies that you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and you establish prayer, pay Zakat, observe the fast of Ramadan, and perform pilgrimage to the (House) if you are solvent enough (to bear the expense of) the journey. He (the inquirer) said: You have told the truth... —Sahih Muslim Bk 1, No 1 G greenhat/head: A member of Hamas, so-called because of the dopey green baseball caps and green shahada headbands they seem to be so fond of wearing. H hadith (plural: ahadith or hadith or hadiths): From MSA: Reports on the sayings and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) or what he witnessed and approved are called Hadith. These are the real explanation, interpretation, and the living example of the Prophet (s.a.w.) for teachings of the Qur'an. His sayings are found in books called the Hadith books. Some famous collectors of Hadith are Imam Al-Bukhari, Imam Muslim, Imam An-Nasa'i, Imam Abu Dawood, Imam At-Tirmizi, and Imam Majah. There are many others. The hadith are the written collections of the sunna (sacralized traditions) documenting the mannerisms, habits, sayings, deeds, and way of life of Muhammad. They are interpreted literally (although some carry more authentic weight than others), as all debate concerning their veracity was finished over a millennium ago. The sunna complement the Koran and are the second basis (after the Koran) of sharia law. hadith qudsi: sacred hadith. These are hadiths which Muhammad claimed to have been given directly from God, but which he put into his own words. Thus, they differ from the Koran, which Muslims believe is God's literal word. halaal: permitted in Islam haraam: prohibited in Islam hudna: Honest Reporting has a good definition of the Arab/Muslim concept of hudna: Hudna has a distinct meaning to Islamic fundamentalists, well-versed in their history: The prophet Mohammad struck a legendary, ten-year hudna with the Quraysh tribe that controlled Mecca in the seventh century. Over the following two years, Mohammad rearmed and took advantage of a minor Quraysh infraction to break the hudna and launch the full conquest of Mecca, the holiest city in Islam. In essence, this is religious license to renege on ones word, and to regroup, rearm, and reorganize to attack when ones enemy is lulled into thinking that one will be honest and fulfill ones side of a truce. This is tactic has been used over and over in Islam's history, and is used to great effect today by Yasser Arafat, Hamas, al-Aqsa, and other Islamic terrorists all over the world. Recent examples include Fallujah and Najaf. What Westerners need to do is to read Islamic scripture and learn that in Islam there is no concept of permanent submission to any other power than God's. Treaties mean nothing. Beware the hudna. I ijma: the consensus of the ulema (learned religious scholars of Islam), an instrumental part of sharia law imam: From MSA: An Imam is a religious leader. Any person who leads a congregational prayer is called an Imam. A religious leader who also leads his community in the political affairs may be called an Imam, an Amir, or a Caliph. However, an Imam is not infallible [this is anti-Shia sentiment, as Shiites revere certain imams, almost as saints. —ed.]. He is responsible for his mistakes to all the members of the community and above all he is responsible to Almighty Allah. insh'Allah: God willing, if God wills it Irrational America Hatred Syndrome (IAHS): Any of several mental disorders in which a visceral, spiteful, and unreasonable hatred of America and/or Americans is the primary symptom. Includes: the European resentment of America's demonstrated ability to proceed unimpeded and unapproved (by Europeans) in geopolitical endeavors deemed necessary to its national security and other interests; Arab/Muslim aversion to the vanguard of secular democracy which is a constant reminder of Islam's abysmal failure at equipping its adherents with the tools necessary to succeed in the modern world; and of course, the blind, self-effacing antipathy of American leftists who have climbed onto the trendy platform of hating the land they live in and its institutions which provide them with freedom and unparalleled opportunity. IAHS is manifest in other forms as well, but the three abovementioned disorders, or a combination thereof, are currently the most prevalent. The only effective treament for IAHS is a simple, yet uncompromising, regimen of good sense, sincere love and appreciation of freedom, and rejection of fashionable, empty, self-defeating leftist philosophy. There is hope—don't give up. IDF: Israel Defense Forces irtidad: apostasy from Islam, punishable by death; also called ridda Islam: Submission to God. The third and last great monotheistic/Abrahamic faith to come out of the Middle East, c. 600 CE. From MSA: Islam is an Arabic word the root of which is Silm and Salam. It means among others: peace, greeting, salutation, obedience, loyalty, allegiance, and submission to the will of the Creator of the Universe. Islam is the last and final religion to all mankind and to all generations irrespective of color, race, nationality, ethnic background, language, or social position. The religion of Islam is not to be confused with Mohammedanism. The latter is misnomer to Islam. Muslims do not accept this name as it gives wrong information about Islam and Muslims. Islam is the most intolerant, totalitarian, violent, and bellicose religion in mankind's history. Since its inception fourteen centuries ago, it has posed a serious existential threat to its enemies within and without. The reason is twofold: First, Islam is amazingly resistant to reform. Unlike the Bible, the Koran is held by Muslims to be the literal word of God, uncreated, inerrant, and immutable (see Koran 2:1-5, 4:82, 5:3, 6:114-115, 10:37, 12:1-3, 13:37, 14:1, 18:1-4, 19:97, 20:113, 26:192-195, 36:1-6, 36:12, 41:1-3, 41:44, 42:7, 46:1-3, 46:10, 46:12, et al). Thus, the precepts, values, and doctrine enshrined in the Koran have come down to us today, literally unchanged. In it we find a comprehensive seventh century socio-politico-religious ideology which may have been acceptable one millennium ago, but which is now egregiously incompatible with the modern, secular values (religious tolerance, women's rights, pluralism, freedom of conscience, etc.) which have moved the civilized world forward. Muslims hold this book to be their principle guide and inspiration. Every infidel should be at least generally familiar with the Koran. The second reason that Islam is such a menace is its profoundly martial character. No other faith is so thoroughly permeated with overt hostility and sanction for violence against unbelievers. Through the elaborate scriptural and exegetical doctrine of holy war (jihad), Islam has elevated the act of killing, stealing, subjugating, raping, and dying in God's name to the pinnacle of the believer's moral outlook (see Koran 2:216, 3:140-42, 4:74, 4:76, 4:84, 4:95, 8:12, 8:38-39, 8:60, 8:66, 8:69, 8:72, 8:7-75, 9:5 (verse of the sword), 9:14, 9:20, 9:29, 9:38-39, 9:41, 9:44, 9:73, 9:111, 9:123, 22:58-59, 44:51, 47:4-5, 48:20, 49:15, 61:10--13, 66:9, et al.). With the dual reward of sensual pleasures in this world and in Islam's afterlife paradise, the holy warrior is provided with ample inspiration for all manner of depravity, supposedly pleasing to God. War is prescribed against the infidel until all the world falls under Islamic rule. Any voices of dissent in Islam are either dead or consigned to doublethink. Blasphemy and apostasy are punishable by death. Islam is extremely totalitarian because its dogma is interpreted literally and is not open to any sort of meaningful revision. But it is also exceedingly totalitarian because it is such a comprehensive and intrusive religion, insinuating itself into the most personal and mundane aspects of a person's life (how one must urinate, wash, have sex); as well as being a sweepingly public religion (containing an entire system of governance on the levels of family, tribe, community, nation, and world). There is no separation of mosque and state. The ultimate goal of Islam is world dominion through establishment of the caliphate to make all lands dar al-Islam and to make all mankind subject to Islamic sharia law. Islamo: prefix denoting anything having to do with Islam (Islamosupremacy, Islamofascism, Islamocrat, etc.) Islamofascism: The hardcore, uncompromising, orthodox application of sharia law, offensive jihad, and outright brutality employed by Islamic terrorist thugs. Islamosupremacy: This is a term I use to define the pith of Islam, which is the politicoreligious endeavor of fighting—both peacefully and by force of arms—to subdue all of mankind to God's law until Islam is supreme. Islamothug: Islamic terrorist Islamocrat: one who enforces, or tries to enforce, Islamic law (sharia), or one who desires to live under such law isolated incident: A euphemistic phrase which is used in the dishonest portrayal of the many and frequent instances of Islamic terror. This deceptive term depicts these acts of terror as aberrations which are more of the exception than the norm. The isolated incidents add up at an alarming rate, though; and even one or two acts of Islamic mass murder are truly atrocious and devastating. This term is very often used in a sentence which looks something like this: The 9/11 attacks were an isolated incident carried out by violent extremists who represent a only tiny fraction of all Muslims, and do not represent the real Islam, which is the Religion of Peace. It's really just P.R./damage control to use such euphemisms. However, they have the unfortunate effect of legitimating terrorism, at least to a limited extent. Terror should be called terror, and when it is perpetrated by Muslims in Islam's name, it should be called Islamic terror. Also see taqiyya Israel: The historical homeland of the Jewish people. The Jews had established a vibrant culture and society in Eretz Yisra'el (the land of Israel) some two thousand years before the advent of Islam, which brought Arab invaders, led by Caliph Omar to colonize the land. After being cast out en masse by the Romans, the Jewish diaspora wandered from nation to nation, always as the "unwanted guests" (although Jews never stopped living in Israel). With the advent of modern Zionism, Jews began to make aliyah (return to Israel), buying plots of land, and reestablishing their nation. Muslims view this time as one of ignorance and darkness, and consider infidels to still be living in this period. jahannam: hell; also sometimes jahim for hellfire/blazing fire jannah: Paradise, heaven jihad: Islamic holy war to spread Allah's religion. We are unconcerned at C&R about the so-called "greater" jihad, because all faiths and value systems contain this emphasis on self-improvement. We are far more interested in the "lesser" jihad, since it is the holy writ which justifies, and indeed requires, that we be killed for our unbelief. Jihad is primarily the offensive spread of Islam and/or expansion of its territorial borders through violent force of arms. This is called jihad al mubadahah (offensive jihad). It is sanctioned in the Koran, the sunna, and sharia law, and is a mandatory act of devotion. It is utilized when the peaceful offer of conversion to Islam is refused. Jihad is incumbent on all able-bodied Muslims, and to die in jihad as a shahid*, fighting the infidels in God's name, is regarded as the highest honor. Here is a fatwa on offensive jihad. And here's another one which is less explicit, yet equally favorable to offensive jihad. Defensive jihad to expel kuffar from Muslim lands is called Jihad al-dafa'ah. The Reliance of the Traveller (´Umdat al-Salik) manual of Islamic fiqh is abundantly clear on the conept of jihad against the infidel: o9.0 JIHAD Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada, signifying warfare to establish the religion. The scriptural basis for jihad, prior to scholarly consensus (def: b7) is such Koranic verses as: "Fighting is prescribed for you" (Koran 2:216); "Slay them wherever you find them" (Koran 4:89); "Fight the idolators [infidels —ed.] utterly" (Koran 9:36); and such hadiths as the one related by Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “I have been commanded to fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and perform the prayer, and pay zakat. If they say it, they have saved their blood and possessions from me, except for the rights of Islam over them. And their final reckoning is with Allah”; and the hadith reported by Muslim, “To go forth in the morning or evening to fight in the path of Allah is better than the whole world and everything in it.” jihad denied: This is when a Western (most often American and Israeli) or other anti-jihad power—particularly military—frustrates and/or stops the progression of Islam's totalitarian and violent conquests. jihadi: I'm pretty sure that this is just an anglicized form of mujahid. Jihad Inc. Intl.: Al-Qaeda, so-called because al-Qaeda is currently the most organized, best funded, and most widespread/franchised global Islamic terror group Jihad News Network (JNN): Al-Jazeera television—the mujahideen's faithful news outlet, always reliable for its willingness to provide a major media platform for jihad agitprop Jihad, Junior (Jr. Jihad): Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the younger version of Papa Jihad (Osama bin Laden) Jihad, Papa (Papa Jihad): Osama bin Laden jizya: This is the poll tribute tax that infidels must pay for being allowed to live in the Islamic state (such infidels are called dhimmis). It is often paid in a humiliating manner, with the Jew or Christian being made to enter the tax collector's office with eyes to the ground, and then being struck in the face or on the back of the neck while paying in accordance with the Koran: Fight against those to whom the Scriptures were given as believe in neither God nor the Last Day, who do not forbid what God and His apostle have forbidden, and do not embrace the true Faith, until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued. —Koran 9:29 (emphasis mine) Judea/Samaria: The area in Israel most often referred to as the "West Bank." K kaffiyeh: Arab headdress always seen on Yasser Arafat (ironed into the shape of Israel); also a favorite of Islamic terrorists worn wrapped around the head and face so that only the eyes are shown. This is presumably in imitation of Muhammad and his squadrons who entered Mecca (after conquering the Meccans) with only their eyes visible due to their armor. kaffiyeh kid: The young useful idiots of Islam and jihad. These dumb/misguided, self-hating Western kids have gotten it into their heads that the anti-Israel Palestinian Arab movement and jihad are noble and just. They are generally from an upper-middle class to upper class background; away at a decent university wasting their parents' money; they are in thrall to mindless far left principles; and they congregate at pro-"Palestine"/anti-Israel demonstrations, "peace" rallies, and anti-America protests. When gathered in these groups, they are often seen wearing a fresh, new kaffiyeh in solidarity with the holy hateful warrior lunatics they so avidly support. kafir: infidel, non-Muslim (from kufr: disbelief in Allah), one who rejects the Arab/Islamic God and His prophet Muhammad; plural: kuffar kuffar (plural of kafir): endearing term of affection used by Patrick al-Kafir for the excellent readers of C&R Khalifa: The successor of Muhammad and the mortal representative of God's law. Referred to as "God's shadow on Earth," he is the leader/head of state for the entire Muslim umma and must lead them in the campaign to make all the world Islamic. The English word is "Caliph." Khilafa: One, worldwide Islamic state. The form of government prescribed for all Muslims, and indeed for all the world, according to Islam. It entails the implementation of sharia law, and the obligation to bring all of mankind into Islam. The English word is "Caliphate." The continuous Islamic Caliphate, which began under Muhammad, was ended in 1924 with the last gasp of the Ottoman Empire. khutba: sermon given at Jumu'ah (Friday) and Eid prayers kitman: hiding the truth about Islam from the infidels; lie by omission, rather than by commission, as in taqiyya Koran (also Qur'an or Quran): Muhammad's book of hatred, religious totalitarianism, misogyny, ignorance, and holy war. From MSA: The holy book of Qur'an is called the Qur'an [Let the redundancy begin. —ed.]. It was revealed unto Muhammad (s.a.w) from Allah through angel Gabriel (Jibril) for a period of 23 years. There is only one Qur'an in the whole world and it is in Arabic language. The Qur'an has one text, one language, and one dialect. It has been memorized by millions of Muslims in different parts of the world. I call the Koran (along with the hadith) the Islamic Hate Manual, because it justifies, sanctions, and promotes all manner of repression, intolerance, hatred, murder, and conquest in God's name. I've read it from cover to cover, and it's a prolix, tedious, incondite, and nonsensical treatise obviously written to suit the aspirations of a violent, narcissistic schemer with grand social and political ambitions. Of course, the Jewish and Christian Bibles also have some of these attributes (although they're infinitely more valuable as literary works), but the difference with the Koran—as with the hadith—is that it's still interpreted literally by all Muslims on Earth. This is not likely to change either, because the Koran is believed by Muslims to be the perfect, uncreated, revealed word of God. The Koran is also a poor imitation of the important religious texts which it clearly plagiarized, namely the Jewish and Christian bibles along with Zoroastrian and Sabian works. I use Penguin's Koran (with parallel Arabic text), translated by N.J. Dawood, because it is widely considered to be an accurate English translation. It also has a useful index for quick location of matter by subject. Koranocracy: any geopolitical entity ruled by sharia law (i.e., when the Koran is essentially the constitution) M madrasa: Islamic religious schools (quite often Saudi-funded), mainly based in Pakistan and Bangladesh, although they are beginning to spread into India and other south Asian nations. The curriculum is overwhelmingly centered around Koranic and hadith studies with a strong emphasis on the obligation and nobility of jihad against the kuffar. With no secular education available for many young Muslim boys, attending a madrasa is the only option. The end result is a young man who has memorized the entire Koran by rote in Arabic (even if he can't speak Arabic) and who hates the West with a fiery passion. masjid: Mosque. The three most important mosques to Muslims are: Al Masjid al-Haaram (The Mosque of Sanctuary, located in Mecca) Al Masjid al-Nabawi (The Prophet's Mosque, located in Medina) Al Masjid al-Aqsa (The Furthest Mosque, located in Jerusalem), which is built upon the Temple Mount, stolen from the Jews mini-Caliphate/Sultanate: the various small Islamostates scattered throughout the world where sharia law is largely adhered to, or at least enforced through the mujahideen moonbat: A derisive term for a person who holds zealously to far left ideology. I have no idea where this word came from originally. Also sometimes called überleftist or leftocrats. moral relativism: the bankrupt notion that there is no good/bad, right/wrong dichotomy, but rather, differing views on what is good and what is bad, with all being equally valid. This is especially dangerous thinking in a world which is growing ever more connected through globalization and technology. MSM: The mainstream media. The "big three" wire services of the MSM are Reuters, The Associated Press, and Agence France-Presse. The MSM have a decidedly leftist slant and are quite often pro-Arab, pro-Islam, and anti-America and anti-Israel in their supposedly impartial news reporting. Muhammad or Mohammed: God's number one homeboy in Islamic theology. The last prophet. The inventor of Islam. A truly unsavory character who engaged in, among other forms of foul behavior, mass murder, pedophilia, treachery, polygyny, lying, theft, and rapine. mujahid: Holy warrior; one who fights to defend or expand Muslim lands. plural: mujahideen Also called jihadi(s). mullacracy: Iran, which is a theocracy ruled by mullahs (learned men of Islamic doctrine and sharia law) multiculturalism: On its face, the idea of multiculturalism is a darn good one. It implies that we can respect each others' cultural differences instead of allowing them to cause divisiveness and conflict. However, multiculturalism has gone wrong. Terribly wrong. With its best friends, political correctness and moral relativism, multiculturalism has fostered an environment which has produced exactly what it was originally intended to prevent: namely, divisiveness and conflict. This comes in the form of a flat refusal of many immigrant groups—most notably, ones from Muslim lands—to assimilate into their host societies, thus creating fragmentation and friction in these respective societies. Also, multiculturalism, moral relativism and political correctness have breathed new life into the hollow leftist concepts of the noble savage and the blank slate, resulting in a social climate which prohibits us from acknowledging when one culture's set of norms and customs is superior to those of another—e.g., equality of the sexes in the secular West compared to complete subjugation of women in Muslim nations. In relation to Islam, multiculturalism is a categorical failure since Muslims are convinced that their culture came from God, thus conferring upon them the option—the obligation, actually—to hold any other way of life in contempt. I.e., for Muslims, the idea of multiculturalism is not feasible. munafiq: hypocrite, one who acts outwardly as a Muslim, but who is actually an unbeliever in their heart. Sometimes a munafiq is not aware of their hypocrisy. To be a munafiq is the gravest of matters in Islam (worse than disbelief), with the Koran describing the lowest depths of hell as reserved for them (4:145). plural: munafiqeen murtad: apostate; one who turns their back on Allah, and leaves Islam. The punishment for apostasy in Islam is death. plural: murtadeen mushrik: A polytheist. One who ascribes partners to Allah or submits the reverence reserved for God alone to anything beside God. Someone who holds man's law as equal to or above God's law as revealed in the Koran and hadith. plural: mushrikeen Muslim Brotherhood, The (Muslim Brethren, Muslim Brothers) (Arabic: Jamiat al-Ikhwan al-Muslimeen; lit., Society of the Muslim Brothers): Founded in Egypt, in 1928 by Hassan al-Banna, the Muslim Brotherhood was a reflexive—and violent—response to impinging Western secularism in the Muslim world, a return to Islamic values and norms. With Sayyid Qutb, who some call Osama bin Laden's ideological/spiritual inspiration (along with Sheik Abdullah Azzam), al-Banna drew upon the writings of Ibn Taimiyah and offered a wholly Islamic response to Egypt's then current pro-Western stance. They soon grew to be the preeminent Islamic terrorist squad. The Muslim Brotherhood constructed the template upon which all modern Islamic terror groups are modeled, formed, and operated. Ayman al-Zawahiri, Abdullah Azzam, Osama bin Laden—they all were indoctrinated with this poison. From the Muslim Brotherhood sprang other fanatical and lethal terror groups, like Islamic Jihad, Hamas, and Jamaat-i-Islami. There seems to currently be some discontent with them among some of the rising star, young upstarts like Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, but one may rest assured that the Brothers are still crucial power players in the Islamic movements of the Middle East, Northern Africa, Europe, here in America (operating as the Muslim American Society or MAS), and around the world. In return for the patronage of the Sa'ud, al-Wahhab, through his religious influence, ensured that the king's subjects remained loyal to him. Salafi Islam is Islam in its purest, most unrefined essence. It is the barbaric, harsh, uncompromising, and deadly Islam that Muhammad left as his legacy. Former CIA operative, Robert Baer, succinctly and accurately summed up the situation thusly: Saudi Arabia is more and more an irrational state—:a place that spawns global terrorism even as it succumbs to an ancient and deeply seated isolationism, a kingdom led by a royal family that can't get out of the way of its own greed. Global Security.org has a pretty good rundown of how things work in the KSA. shahada: The Muslim testament of faith: "I testify that there is no god but God (Allah) and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of God." shahid(a): martyr, plural: shuhaada Shaitan: Satan (not Miraslov Satan, the hockey player; Satan, the Devil) Shalom: Hebrew—literally, "peace." Used as a common greeting/farewell among Jews. On the Sabbath, one may say, Shabbat shalom. Shalom aleichem means, "peace to you/be upon you." sharia: Islamic law. From MSA: The Shari'ah is the revealed and the canonical laws of the religion of Islam. The legislative power in the government lies in the hands of legislative assembly. The legislators are to make rules and regulations within the scope and dimensions of the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (s.a.w.). These rules constitute the Shari'ah. Sharia law is bad news, my infidel friends. sheik: A a title of reverence given to an elderly person or a religious leader in a community. This title is also given to a wise person. Shia Islam: Shia Islam holds that the first rightful Khalifa (successor to Muhammad and leader of all Muslims) was 'Ali Ibn Abi Talib, Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law. The Shia pray to their twelve holy imams, who they view as infallible , and they believe that the last one—:the Mahdi—:is not dead, but waiting for the end of time to lead the Shi'a to victory in their faith. To Sunni Muslims, this is all shirk and unforgivably blasphemous. There is much bad blood between the Shia and the Sunnis, but they will put their differences aside for long enough to kill infidels. shirk: Polytheism, imputing to anything the stature, glory, reverence, obedience, love, or respect that belongs to God alone. It is the most severe of sins in Islam, and is unforgivable. What infidels should understand about this crucial element of Islamic ideology is that Muslims see polytheism differently than we do. While we view the worship of more than one deity as a proper definition of the term, Muslims view any way of life outside of strict adherence to the Koran and sunna as expressed in the sharia and resolved by the ijma, to be shirk. Therefore, modern, liberal democratic institutions such as voting, women's rights, civil liberties, and the rule of representative law are all shirk and abominable. The sira is an essential tool for Muslims in handling day-to-day situations. In English, Alfred Guillaume's translation of Ibn Hisham's revision of Ibn Ishaq's Sirat Rasul Allah (Life of God's Messenger) is indispensable reading for anyone wishing to understand Islam's roots, its past and its present. Subhan Allah: Glory be to God sunna: From MSA: In general, the word Sunnah means habit, practice, customary procedure, or action, norm and usage sanctioned by tradition. In specific, any time the word Sunnah is mentioned, it is to refer to Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.). Here it means his sayings, practices, living habits. The Hadith are reports on the Sunnah. The two major legal sources of jurisprudence in Islam are the Quran and the Sunnah. The Sunnah may confirm what is mentioned in Qur'an, interpret and explain it, specify what is meant by some general verses, limit and restrict the meaning of some verse in it, or may explain something that has been revealed in Qur'an. The Sunnah has a high authority in Islam; and Allah in many places in the Qur'an orders the Muslims to follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w.). Sunni (orthodox) Islam: Sunni Islam holds that Abu Bakr As-Siddiq was the first rightful Caliph/Khalifa (successor to Muhammad, and leader of all Muslims). They adhere strictly to the Islam practiced by Muhammad, and they despise the Shia practices of elevating men to supernatural status. There is much bad blood between the Sunnis and the Shia, but they will put their differences aside for long enough to kill infidels. sura or surah: a chapter in the Koran, of which there are 112; plural: suwar T tafsir: Koranic exegesis, the "science" by which the Koran is to be explained and understood taqiyya: Dissimulation; lying for the sake of ones religion; concealing ones true religious beliefs for strategic reasons. Taqiyya is a lie by commission, rather than by omission, as in kitman. The concept of al-taqiyya is one historically associated with Shia Islam. This is because Sunni Muslims, who believe that Shiites are heretics, would impel them to denounce their faith, thinking this would expose them as mushrikeen when they refused to. In response, the Shia would do so, but hold true to their faith in their hearts, thus preserving their faith and their lives. Taqiyya is now used by all Muslims as a means of deceiving infidels about Islam's aims, practices, and aspirations. tawhid: God's unity/oneness, the core principle of Islam. To compare anything with God or to claim He has equals or betters is shirk—a grave blasphemy. For me, the two crucial definitive qualities regarding how terrorists endeavor to advance their social/religious/political agenda are: intent to rt or kill; and hurting or killing unarmed and/or helpless people, and sometimes property. Also, I'd like to note that while it is certainly true that not all Muslims are terrorists, we cannot deny that most terrorists are Muslims. If we could somehow get big media to use the word "terrorist" (if not jihadi or Islamic terrorist) as it should be used—i.e., when talking about a terrorist, and not in quotation marks—websites like Clarity & Resolve et al would be largely unnecessary. These are people whose blind, self-effacing hatred of their own free society serves as a handy device for totalitarian ideology as a means of deflecting the criticism which comes from the rest of us who are sane and unwilling to compromise morality for the sake of multiculturalism, or political correctness. W waqf: an Islamic religious endowment, wherein the property (land or otherwise) is entrusted to God in perpetuity to be used for the benefit of Muslims. In Islamic doctrine, lands conquered by Muslims in God's name are considered to be thereafter inviolable and may not be forfeited. Muslim land, past and present, and the totality of its respective awqaf (pl.) are considered to be the eternal property of God and His servants (Muslims). Israel, for instance, is considered to be an Islamic waqf, and therefore not open to appropriation by Jews, even though its their homeland. War on Terror: This term is a misnomer. We are fighting a war specifically on Islamic jihad, not on a vague, nameless concept of "terror." The so-called War on Terror is America's and Israel's legitimate response to Islam's explicitly declared, unprovoked, and unjustified offensive war on their ideals, values, and unarmed citizens. Terror is a word. Jihad is a way of life and a means to an end. War on Jihad (WOJ): The armed and ideological conflict between modern Western civilization and medieval Islamic expansionist theocracy. Zindiq: atheist, heretic plural: zandiqa Zionism: Here is the definition for Zionism from The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition: A Jewish movement that arose in the late 19th century in response to growing anti-Semitism and sought to reestablish a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Modern Zionism is concerned with the support and development of the state of Israel. Put simply, Zionism is the right of the Jewish state of Israel to exist within defined and defended borders, and the right to provide security for its citizens. The Arab/Muslim world and the useful idiots of the far left have ascribed a pejorative meaning to the words Zionism and Zionist, equating them with racism (the UN, by the way, endorsed that idea in an official resolution), fascism, and even going so far as to call Zionists and Jews Zionazis.
