The Stoning of Soraya M.

Carl M. Cannon of Politics Daily reviews the movie "The Stoning of Soraya M."

Based on a true story, the film relates a grisly execution of an "inconvenient wife." Under the Sharia, which this event takes place, victims are often punished with little or no evidence - just the accusations of another. In this case, Soraya M. was accused of infidelity by her husband.

Only an Islamic court would give so much weight to a man's testimony that it would brutally stone a woman to death.

In the review, Cannon makes a point on the dangers of encroaching Islam:

In the anarchic days of the Iranian Revolution, Ghorban-Ali had found work as a prison guard in a neighboring town. There, he met a 14-year-old girl whom he wanted to marry. Polygamy was encouraged in Ayatollah Khomeini's Iran, but Ghorban-Ali didn't want to support two families, and did not desire to return his wife's dowry. How to rid himself of his "old" wife? That was the easy part. Accuse her of infidelity. No matter that her husband had not actually seen anything untoward, or that Soraya was completely innocent, or that her husband's cynical accusations were only backed up by his cousin, who as it turned out had been coerced into concurring with the vaguest of accusations: a smile here, a brushed hand there.

What court of law would find someone guilty on such flimsy evidence? A "sharia" court is the answer. And so Soraya was convicted. The sentence was death-death by stoning.

I do not know, as I told one of this movie's financial backers, whether Americans will sit through a film this sad and grisly. I only know that they should. It has been said many times since 9/11 that we are in a war of ideas -- and a shooting war as well -- with men who are confident that one day all the world will be governed by this kind of law. It would not be a world worth inhabiting. I am haunted by Soroya and her sisters.

Women Who Sing Should Be Stoned To Death

That's what a Muslim cleric says.

But not in so many words. What he actually said was that listening to music makes one guilty of adultery. The penalty for adultery, especially among women, is to be stoned to death.

Sayed-ur-Rahman Niazi, the cleric at Kabul's central mosque which attracts 50,000 worshipers during weekly Friday prayers, was quoted by Chicago Tribune as having said this very strong anti-music statement:

"It's completely rejected by Islam. Someone who goes to listen to music is guilty of adultery. It's the same thing. And someone who enjoys it should be kicked out of Islam. He's no longer a Muslim."

American Dhimmitude And Christian Bashing

First, in a mock terrorist hostage situation, a U.S. school portrays the invaders as "members of a right-wing fundamentalist group called the 'New Crusaders' who don't believe in separation of church and state."

And now the CBS program Cold Case will air an episode in which a woman is stoned to death by her fellow Christians:

In the September 30 episode of the CBS forensics show, the devoutly religious teens in an abstinence club turn out to be sexually active hypocrites who murder one of their own members – by stoning her, as the Bible teaches – to keep their sins secret.

The irony in both these cases is that, far from being fiction, they parallel Muslim behavior, not Christian. Currently in Iran and many other Muslim societies, women are actually stoned to death as a punishment for immorality. But that is lost on American schools and broadcasting companies. Rather than risk upsetting the ever peaceful religion of Islam, our dhimmis happily take aim at the Christian faith.

I suppose it is much safer that way.

Jerusalem Post Retracts Gaza "Honor Killing" Video Story

On Saturday, September 29th, The Jerusalem Post published a story about a horrific "honor killing" caught on video. They have since removed the article. Today, the JPost published a follow up story about the incident:

As part of a campaign to discredit Hamas, Fatah has been using a video showing the killing of a girl in Iraq as "evidence" of Hamas's "atrocities" in the Gaza Strip.

On Friday, officials from the Fatah-controlled General Intelligence contacted The Jerusalem Post, offering the "exclusive" video and story for publication in Sunday's Post. They claimed that it provided fresh evidence of Hamas's "barbarity."

The officials even gave the Post the phone numbers of two men in the Gaza Strip who claimed that they had witnessed the "honor killing" of the 16-year-old girl. The two confirmed (by phone) that they had witnessed the lynching of the girl in the Gaza Strip.

Since the Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip, the IDF has banned Israeli journalists from entering the area. Consequently, the Israeli media (and many foreign journalists) are forced to rely on local reporters and Fatah and Hamas officials as a main source of information.

The girl, along with her two sisters, was murdered in the Gaza Strip in July for "dishonoring" her family, the group claimed. And according to Palestinian human rights groups, at least 11 Palestinian women have been murdered in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the year in what is known as "honor killings."

But thanks to the awareness of readers and bloggers, who responded to an article on the video that was later removed from the Post's Web site on Saturday night, the Post did not carry the article in Sunday's paper and has ascertained that the supposed fresh

It is ironic that Muslims would offer the video to disparage other Muslims since we are inundated with claims that Islam is "peaceful." Fatah is hypocritically acknowledging Islamic brutality while at the same time using it as a propaganda tool to discredit a rival.

Iran: Woman Sentenced To Stoning Death; Man Lashed For Same 'Crime'

The inequities of Islamic law is painfully illustrated here. A man and a woman have an affair. The man is sentenced to 100 lashes, while the woman is sentence to be executed by stoning.

Tehran, 28 Sept.(AKI) - A court in the Iran's second largest city, Mashad, has sentenced to death by stoning a mother-of-three for having an extra-marital affair, an Iranian newspaper reported Friday.

The daily Quds said the married woman's lover had confessed to having had sex with her and that the court sentenced him to 100 lashes.

There are currently eight women in Iranian prisons waiting to be executed by stoning, a practice usually reserved for those found guilty of adultery according to the Islamic republic's laws.
