President Hypocrite Speaketh

"Do not stand idly by when dissidents everywhere are imprisoned and protesters are beaten. Because part of the price of our own freedom is standing up for the freedom of others."

~President Barack Hussein Obama during U.N. speech, September 23, 2010

This from the President who stood idly by while Iranian dissidents were brutally beaten and slaughtered in the streets of Iran.

One dissident Obama ignored:

"The Iranian people are trying to have a debate about their future."
~President Barack Hussein Obama

Celebrating Freedom, Obama Style

While Iranian Protesters shed their blood for just a taste of freedom, Iranian Diplomats will celebrate our freedom with a barbecue, courtesy of President Barack Hussein Obama.

From Weasel Zippers:
WASHINGTON (AFP) — The United States said Monday its invitations were still standing for Iranian diplomats to attend July 4 celebrations at US embassies despite the crackdown on opposition supporters.

How's that for rubbing the noses of Iranian Freedom Fighters into the bloodstained pavement of their Revolution?

Former Crowned Prince of Iran Weeps For Neda

Transcript:

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights knows no national boundaries. Its defense is not only a matter of ethics, but a mutual obligation of all governments who are its signatories. It is also in their interests.

No one, no one will benefit from closing his or her eyes to knives and cables cutting into faces and mouths of our young and old… (pause) or from bullets piercing our beloved Neda… whose only sin was the quest for freedom. No one but tyrants and their thugs.

Do not let them define what is disrespect for sovereignty, what is interference in others affairs.

Ladies and gentlemen, a movement was born. On the 22nd of Khordad in my calendar, the 12th of June in yours.

It is not Islamic or anti-Islamic, it is not for Capitalism or Socialism, nor any other ideology or specific form of government. It cares little about historical squabbles before its birth. But it is about the sanctity – even more – the sovereignty of the ballot box.

It may not succeed immediately. It may have ebbs and flows. But let me assure you, it will not die. Because we will not let it die.

Voice Of Iran

The last words Neda's father said to her as she lay dying: "Neda, don't be afraid. Neda, don't be afraid. Neda, stay with me. Neda, stay with me!"

[UPDATE] It has been reported that the man with Neda was not her father, but her music teacher.

A Death In Iran

[UPDATE] This martyr has a name - Neda Agha Soltan. (Twitter #neda)

A young woman dies in the streets of Iran, shot in the chest by Basij police:

This was no accidental shot. She was not a protester. She was standing to the side with her father watching the protests. The Basij officer took deliberate aim.

She isn't the only one dying. Protesters are sacrificing everything for a chance at freedom. In response, U.S. President Obama does nothing.

I pray these young martyrs do not die in vain.

Atlas Shrugs has more.

(YouTube will probably remove this video. It has already been flagged. LiveLeak also has it HERE.)

Cries From Rooftops

[UPDATE] More accurate translation added:

Tomorrow is Saturday. Tomorrow is a day of destiny.

Tonight, the cries of Allah-o Akbar are heard louder and louder than the nights before.

Where is this place? Where is this place where every door is closed? Where is this place where people are simply calling God? Where is this place where the sound of Allah-o Akbar gets louder and louder?

I wait every night to see if the sounds will get louder and whether the number increases. It shakes me. I wonder if God is shaken.

Where is this place that where so many innocent people are entrapped? Where is this place where no one comes to our aid? Where is this place that only with our silence we are sending our voices to the world? Where is this place that the young shed blood and then people go and pray -- standing on that same blood and pray. Where is this place where the citizens are called vagrants?

Where is this place? You want me to tell you?

This place is Iran. The homeland of you and me. This place is Iran.

Perhaps they should try a different god. Allah isn't going to go against the mullahs who support his barbaric laws. Allah doesn't want them to have freedom.

Support The Iranian People

[UPDATE] - New banner added. Feel free to use either.

New:

Original:

This revolt in Iran could very well mark the end of Islamic superiority in the Middle East. A free and democratic Iran would be a crippling blow to radical Islam.

Please support these brave men and women who are fighting so desperately for what most Westerners take for granted.

Blog them, spread the news and videos, and show them they are not alone in their fight.

I made the above banner for blogs. Feel free to use it as you wish.

Someday - A Tribute To The New Iranian Revolution

Born in Tehran during the turmoil of the Iranian Revolution in 1979, Nazanin Afshin-Jam's family was forced to leave all their worldly possessions behind and flee to freedom, when her father had been jailed and tortured by the Revolutionary Guard under the new regime. Awaiting execution, it was the family's escape to Europe that saved them from political persecution. Faced with adversity so early in life, the revolution impacted her core.

Throughout Nazanin's life, she has found solace in the music that surrounds her. Her mother inundated their family with music flowing constantly in the house from her incredibly eclectic music collection. Her constant world travels and cultural awareness have molded her musical acuity to span a spectrum broader then most are ever exposed to. Blessed with the voice of angels, Nazanin whisks audiences away on a musical journey around the world with her debut album,"Someday".

AESOP's Fables Remix

The Frog and the Scorpion

A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion says, "Because if I do, I will die too."

The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown, but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"

The scorpion replies, "Its my nature..."

Peace FAQ adds a liberal slant to the ending:

"Yes," thought the frog, still puzzled that frogs and scorpions should think and act differently, after all, they are both small creatures of the forest. "Maybe I said or did something to anger him...?!"

And World Security Network adds a modern, Israel versus Islam and the world media twist:

First, in the new version the scorpion declares that he will sting the frog without any doubt. But the frog agrees to take the scorpion because he is encouraged or intimidated by onlookers’ remarks on onlookers—“What! You won’t take that poor scorpion on a ride? What kind of imperialist, racist aggressor are you?”

Second, after the duo drowns, the next day newspapers run the following headlines:

“Frog in Unprovoked Attack on Scorpion!”

“Cycle of Violence Continues”

“Frog Uses Excessive Force on Scorpion Civilian”

Damn frogs.

Delara Darabi Executed

Despite a worldwide effort to save this young woman's life, Iran went ahead with the execution.

Delara Darabi was executed in secret in Rasht Prison May 1 2009, without prior notification given to her attorney. She was sentenced to death for a murder that happened during a break-in when she was 17 years old.

According to Delara Darabi the murder of her father's female cousin was committed by her 19 year old boyfriend Amir Hossein Sotoudeh, whom she was in love with. Delara initially confessed to the murder, but soon retracted her confession. She claimed that Amir Hossein asked her to admit responsibility for the murder to protect him from execution, believing that since she was under the age of 18, she could not be sentenced to death.

R.I.P., another victim of the cruel and unjust legal system of Islam.

Ahmad Batebi Escapes To America!!

This is WONDERFUL news! Ahmad Batebi, one of the most widely recognized political dissents from Iran, has made his way to freedom. In his honor, several months ago I made this inspirational poster:

I can't express the joy I felt upon hearing this news of his freedom. Gateway Pundit has quoted Ahmad as saying:

"I wish each and every Iranian could travel abroad, come to the U.S. or go to Europe, for just one week, and feel, smell, and breathe freedom, human dignity, and realize the value of their lives."

Although it comes a day late, this is the most perfect Independence Day gift I could imagine.

True Justice In Iran

Apparently Iran can do some things right. Usually, Iran hangs gays and labels them "rapists." But in this case, it appears the punishment fit the crime:

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran has hanged five men convicted of raping and murdering a young woman, a state-owned newspaper reported Monday.

The men were convicted of kidnapping the woman, raping her and then dousing her with gasoline and burning her alive.

The IRAN newspaper reported Monday that the crime was apparently in revenge for the woman's failure to marry one of the men. Her family opposed the union.
