Iranian Youth Rising Up?

PajamasMedia is reporting Iranian youths have made a stand against the modesty police attempting to arrest a young woman. According to reports, such uprisings have occurred throughout Iran, with young Iranian rebels chanting slogans such as "You have put us on since 1979 until now!" (referring to the 1979 Iranian Revolution)

This is the story they tell: at approximately 7 pm on Saturday, February 23, the Ershad patrol, modesty police assigned to enforce clothing regulations, accosted and attempted to arrest a young woman at Goldis Shopping Mall, located in western Tehran, presumably because her dress was not sufficiently modest.

In recent weeks, the police squads charged with enforcing modesty have become more rigorous in their enforcement, with thousands of women detained, questioned, and arrested for violating hijab standards.

Instead of meekly submitting to her fate, the woman fought back. A young man - it is unclear whether he was accompanying her - came to her defense and joined her in fighting the police. In an attempt to subdue – and humiliate him - the police grabbed the young man and threw him into the garbage can nearby.

That was when the large crowd, predominately made up of young people, rose up against the police and attempted to liberate the young woman themselves.

Faced with a full-blown riot - complete with angry crowds with garbage cans being set on fire - the frightened police jumped into the van and fled the scene, except for one unfortunate officer who was left behind. The policeman was reportedly attacked and beaten by the mob.

Prepare For The Riots!

Pope Benedict XVI strongly criticized Islam in a major document released Friday, saying it had led to some of the "greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice" ever known.

Sounds accurate. After what happened last year when the Pope quoted a 14th century text and all hell broke loose in the Muslim world, it's surprising he'd ever say anything negative about Islam again.

Well, he didn't. The above quote was edited by me. This is what the article really says:

Run for cover! The atheists will surely riot, and protest, and kill, and maim, and mutilate! After all, the extremist element exists in all religions and groups, not just Islam. Right?

It's easy to pick on someone who doesn't fight back. Cowardly, but easy. Islam fought back, however inappropriately. But the Pope learned. Among cowards, the truth is irrelevant in the face danger.

For the record, this is the truth the Pope stated in his 2006 lecture at the University of Regensburg in Germany. It is a quote from "Dialogue Held With A Certain Persian, the Worthy Mouterizes, in Anakara of Galatia", written in 1391:

Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.

Moroccan-Dutch youths rioted in Amsterdam overnight Tuesday.

A group of dozens of youths in the Slotervaart neighbourhood in western Amsterdam set cars on fire, damaged several other cars and threw stones through the windows of a police station.

The riots followed the death of 22-year old Dutch-born Bilal Bajaka, of Moroccan descent.

On Sunday, Bajaka entered the police station of Slotervaart, stabbing two police officers with a knife.

Although having sustained serious injuries, one of the officers, a policewoman, shot and killed her alleged attacker on the spot.

One complaint of the rioters:

Moroccan-Dutch residents of Slotervaart complained to reporters they were "sick and tired" of continuous "negative news reports" about fellow Moroccan-Dutch, adding they felt increasingly stigmatized.

Several television reporters who came to report on the fatal incident at the police station were threatened by Moroccan-Dutch youths.

What better way to counter "negative news reports" and stigmatizations than to violently riot and attack news reporters? Increasingly, we see more and more Muslims behaving in a rude, obnoxious manner, and then they have the audacity to complain when they are judged by their behavior.

The religion of peace clearly isn't.

Don't Even Think About Drawing Muhammad

New Muslim intimidation tactic: preemptive violence.

There was panic in Tudun Wada Local Government area of Kano State yesterday as youths unleashed terror on Christians living in the area. The action was as a result of speculations that a Christian teacher in the area drew a cartoon of Prophet Muhammad and displayed it in his sleeping room in the area.

The protesting youths caused serious pandemonium. Ten shops belonging to Igbo traders in the area were set on fire.
